Step-Families
Blended or stepfamilies have specific challenges to overcome. We will explore the family dynamics and steps on how to maintain your relationship during challenging situations.
Gordon and Carri Taylor's journey began in 1986. Gordon's first marriage lasted 18 years, Carri's 13 1/2 years. Gordon brought three sons to the marriage and Carri brought two daughters. All five of their children are now adults; they have ten grandchildren to date and are legal guardians of Carri's oldest granddaughter, who was born in 1990 and has been with them since birth.
The Taylors have been involved in starting, leading, and maintaining stepfamily groups since 1988. They speak nationally on stepfamily development and other relational topics.

This is a quote from the 'Designing Dynamic Stepfamilies Program': "Few challenges in life are more difficult than bringing the pieces of two broken families together. Past hurts, high hopes, pre-existing relationships, and different backgrounds can make this task incredibly tough. Knowing what to expect and what is normal for a stepfamily can reduce the pressure of unrealistic expectations. Understanding the territory and the skills required to negotiate the journey can facilitate the new family's development and promote more lasting success."
Knowing how to communicate with each other is essential and key to the health of your marriage. We will be utilizing the Mastering the Mysteries of Love program to explore communication and relationship skills. MML is a version of the Relationship Enhancement (RE) is a research-based program for over 30 years. For more information on this program, please visit these website: www.skillswork.org
